Nadja Haas is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, researcher and educator. Her work moves between performance, dance, installation, drawing, writing and collaborative artistic research.
Artistic approach
At the centre of her practice is the body: not simply as an instrument of expression, but as a site of knowledge, memory and relation. Her projects investigate how bodies respond to space, sound, material and one another — and how movement can make ecological, social and emotional connections perceptible.
Working across performance, visual art and somatic research, Haas creates situations in which conventional boundaries begin to shift: between performer and environment, body and landscape, movement and sculpture, individual authorship and collective experience. Textiles, natural light, sound, video and spoken or written poetry frequently become part of her choreographic language.
02 METHOD
Listening Through Movement
Listening Through Movement is Nadja Haas’ relational and care-centred choreographic practice. It brings together somatic awareness, feminist thought and collaborative composition.
Rather than beginning with predetermined forms, the method creates responsive structures in which movement emerges through attention. Access, interdependence and vulnerability are understood not as limitations, but as generative artistic principles.

- How can movement be created through relation rather than control?
- What becomes possible when meaning is negotiated rather than imposed?
The method informs Haas’ performances, workshops, teaching and research. She has introduced it in artistic and educational contexts in Berlin and internationally, including at the Dance Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

05 TEACHING
PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE
Nadja Haas currently teaches at Dock11 and Eden Studios in Berlin. She has led workshops at Humboldt University in Berlin, in bilingual schools, and with Velgast Flusskultur e. V., and mentored students at Catapult Art School, Copenhagen. In 2025 she taught Listening Movement in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
